Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie

Every morning, my husband, our boys (Jake ,7 and Coops, 4) and I will have celery juice followed by this tasty smoothie.  

We’ve been doing this morning routine for months now and can see the impact it has on our all of our health and well being – increased energy, positive moods, improved digestion, strong immune systems and reduced unhealthy cravings. 

The recipe was developed by #1 NY Times Best Selling Author Anthony William (aka Medical Medium) to purposely draw out heavy metals from the body to improve health and wellbeing.  It’s also where this information has come from.

WHY ARE HEAVY METALS A PROBLEM ANYWAY? 

Most of us are carrying around heavy metals that have been with us most of our lives and which have burrowed deep inside our tissues. Toxic heavy metals are virtually everywhere, and are present in all kinds of things that we come in contact with every day, such as aluminium cans and foil, batteries, metal cookware, old paint, as well as pesticides and herbicides. 

These toxic heavy metals inflame and irritate our central nervous system (especially our brain). This can trigger conditions in children such as  ADHD, ADD, ODD, autism, anxiety as well as memory loss, brain fog, fatigue, and depression in adults.

These metals create inflammation in virtually every system and organ  and release poisons into the gut as well. Add further insult to injury, heavy metals are a source of food for viruses, bacteria, parasites, and other pathogens in the body.

Spirulina 
This algae draws out heavy metals from the brain, central nervous system, and liver, and soaks up the heavy metals extracted by barley grass juice extract powder.

Barley Grass Juice Powder: 
This nutrient dense grass prepares heavy metals for complete absorption by spirulina (see above). It draws out heavy metals from the spleen, intestinal tract, pancreas, thyroid, and reproductive system.

Coriander/Cilantro:

HEAVY METAL DETOX SMOOTHIE

Recipe by Medical Medium  

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas (or equivalent in mangoes or papayas – fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups wild blueberries or 2 teaspoons wild blueberry powder
  • 1 cup coriander/cilantro 
  • 1 orange peeled and pips removed
  • 1 tsp barley grass juice powder 
  • 1 tsp spirulina 
  • 1 small handful of Atlantic dulse 
  • Water to blend

Method:

Pop all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Easy!

      Gosh Kendall you are so sweet and I have loved having you in the community. Id say this covers a family of 4 (2 tall glasses and 2 small glasses), however I tend to add two teaspoons of the barley grass powder, dulse flakes, spirulina and if Im using wild blueberry powder. I also change up the fruit all the time and sneak in a handful of green leaves. Hope this helps hon. Sharon xx

        Can you freeze these smoothies overnight? or do they have to be prepped the day of to be the most effective?

          Ideally prep the day you’re consuming but if thats too difficult the next day will still have a ton of benefits. xx

    Yes and how do You know it’s actually working? Have you done blood tests to see if the copper or mercury etc has gone down ?? Those are testimonies I have been waiting to see on MM Instagram but have never seen one.

      Hi Sarah, such a valid and great question. Ive had these tests done before with my integrative doctor and very clearly needed to reduce my copper levels which you can do and spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars in the process on tests and supplements. Which I’d advocate to do if there is budget. However the reason I feel this recipe together with celery juice in the morning has been the BEST outcome for my family is just witnessing the health results. My husband finally healing from eczema and psoriasis after 5 years, my asthma as well as my son’s asthma has improved greatly where we are now almost stopping using our daily preventers. Thats big after years of reliance. As well as overall feeling of health since we started this morning protocol. Much more energy, better sleep, increased positivity and great regularity (scary in a household of three boys – LOL). I could definitely go now and test to double check the markers but I feel so confident that we are so on the right track as we are witnessing our own healing and feeling better in the process. In my opinion this is just as valid as a test. Previously tests would show improvements in lowering copper etc but the health issues remained. For that reason Im comfortable to not test further. Hope Ive helped but each to their own to have confidence in their journey. I believe we should try everything that makes sense. Sharon xx

    Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m going to make this a regular in our household. Quick question; how many serves does this recipe offer?

      Im so pleased Chantelle. Id say this serves two adult portions and two small portions for kids. I tend to add two teaspoons of the powders as we are sharing amongst the four of us. With the coriander I just grab a small handful. I tend to buy two bunches of coriander. Give them a good wash and stock in the freezer stems and all in a container so I can add it quickly in the mornings. I also vary up the fruit all the time and often add in some spinach or kale as it will be the only opportunity to get the boys to eat green leaves daily. So for this morning we had pineapple, kiwis and kale with the 5 detox ingredients. Hope this helps. Sharon xx

    I tired to make the smoothie for my grandson because he is autistic. He is four turning five in the summer. He says a few words but understand enough to start kindergarten with support. I am sure this recipe would help him but he does not like the taste. He might like it frozen as an ice pop…might be more appealing. Would this work? He has allergies to gluten, eggs, almonds,and milk

      Hi Diane. I love your beautiful intentions, however always recommend to start very slowly. Have your son first enjoy delicious smoothies and get in a routine for doing this at every breakfast. Simply start with ingredients you know he will enjoy (ie just frozen fruit, like banana and mango), then slowly had small quantities, say coriander first (as you cant taste it), then a tiny sprinkle of the powders. Sprulina tastes very strong so maybe just start with barley grass juice powder. Hope this helps. xx
